The Hawthorne Solar Kiosk
& Roger Jones Memorial

The Hawthorne Solar Kiosk is a project of PDX Main Streets, Hawthorne Boulevard Business Association (HBBA) & Sunnyside Neighborhood in partnership with Sustainable SE Community Coalition (S2C2).  S2C2 is now working to raise funds to support the sustainability and signage aspects of the project and create a memorial that honors Roger's legacy as a tireless champion for the Hawthorne Boulevard District and its historic buildings, and fostering sustainability in the area through the Hawthorne Area Civic Ecology (HACE) project. Roger was known for his role in starting the HBBA and the annual Hawthorne Street Fair. He also helped establish S2C2's nonprofit and was a champion for the peace pole projct at 50th and Hawthorrne which is celebrated on International Peace Day every Spetember. Roger was a big supporter of the Kiosk Project and before he passed away in August 2024, helped facilitate a grant with Venture Portland to build a kiosk on the boulevard. We are raising funds for this Roger Jones Memoria Kiosk (AKA the "Hawthorne Hub"), and hope you will help support this project with solar and signage with a gift today to fund a memorial plaque, signage about Roger's leadership with HBBA and the boulevard, as well as informational signage about the boulevard. With your help we can memorialize a great champion for community through the solar kiosk, demonstrating climate leadership and community building through this sustainability project.
