About the event

Join us for our 5th Annual International Day of Peace Gathering on September 21st!  FREE EVENT: Speakers, Live music, cultural art, performers & food.

In partnership with United Nations Association - Portland Chapter (UNA-PDX), an annual Day of Peace Gathering is held each September to engage our community and honor our international commitments to fostering peace, compassionate care, and sustainable societies around the world. At the September 21, 2022 Day of Peace Gathering, Sustainable Southeast Community Coalition (S2C2) hosted speakers and performers from the Ukrainian community to raise awareness about the atrocities happening in their country and elevate calls for humanitarian support. This year, we are expanding the event with two additional peace poles representing 12 more languages, and are closing Hawthorne Boulevard between  50-51st with support from Hawthorne Boulevard Business Association (HBBA), neighborhood associations, and local businesses. We are grateful for a grant from the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) and other local sponsors that are helping broaden our reach to engage diverse cultural communties from across Portland to participate with booths and performances related to climate change and peace.  Learn more about the Peace Poles Project at www.s2c2pdx.org/peacepoles |  View the Event Schedule of speakers & Performers
